Good morning Testers,

We're making a change to the blog.

We will no longer be posting patch notes here. Patch notes will still be posted to our Announcement thread in the forum per our standard practices.

Instead, we will be using the blog as a developer blog. Our hope is that we can provide you with insights into our development process and we plan to have all members of the development team posting in the developer blog as their schedule permits. You'll also notice that we will be allowing comments in the blog going forward. Let us know what you think and also let us know what sorts of topics you find the most interesting.

Be on the lookout for the first of these development blog posts sometime next week!

    • Small slope graphics better match the terrain

    • Prevent King Native from moving before a player gets into range

    • Separate deed rewarded for completion

    • Add a menu option to hide ally damage numbers
    • Boosts will now disappear more quickly
    • [shift] + direction can now be used to perform a double tap in the specified direction
    • Added new doors in all zones that indicate the next area is a boss area
    • Tweaked map generator to create more varied maps

    • Boss has fewer hitpoints

    • Shield bash now continues until stopped (by hitting another target or a wall)

    • Fixed difficult jump (impossible for Shieldfrogs in some cases)
  • Graveyard
    • Fixed an issue that caused Wallers to generate invisible barriers
    • Boss
      • Only one (randomly chosen) access panel is now open at a time
      • When a weakspot is destroyed, the corresponding spawner becomes marginally more active
      • Spawners should now be disabled on boss death

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • New Mechanic - Character Progression!
    • Starting shells have been reduced in effectiveness slightly
    • Monsters now drop small incremental boosts that are permanent upgrades that are lost on death
    • Boss and Midboss chests also include a number of boosts
    • All shells can receive the same total number of boosts per tier, divided in differing amounts according to shell type among the following attributes:
      • Max hitpoints
      • Max ammo
      • Damage bonus
      • Armor
      • Move speed
      • Jump height
      • Crit chance
      • Crit multiplier
    • To see your progress, press the [c] key (this can be remapped)
    • Boosts from higher tiers are added to lower tiers before they are applied to their respective tier
    • Tier 1 boosts can be found occasionally in the Eschaton shop
  • General
    • Increase Salite implants
    • Increase Calite implants
    • Increase Bellite implants
    • Vendors
      • Retouched vendor rooms
      • Added animations to vendors
  • Ironclad
    • Fixed an issue that caused an Ironclad to take damage when it should have been blocked by terrain or other obstacles
    • Tweaked Baculus art

      • Defaults to simultaneous 2
      • Buzzsaw is replaced with a more traditional in-air attack (Baetyl only)
  • Wildfire
    • Repeaters now become more inaccurate when fired instead of simply when the attack is pressed (increases inaccuracy of repeaters due to their 3 attacks/key press mechanic)
    • Fixed an issue with the incendiary effect not keeping the grenade's momentum
  • Forest
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused hives to spawn larvae into walls
    • Forest branch ends should now always include a chest
    • Addressed some impossible or otherwise difficult jumps
    • Reduced monster density in some map parts
    • Fixed issue that allowed enemies to fall from certain areas into inconvenient places
    • Moved some challenging pieces to the Elite Fire Forest
    • Tweaked ledge art
  • Fungal Cave
    • Some enemies have move hitpoints
    • Some enemies do more damage
    • Fixed issue with King Natives ending up in strange places without players being around
    • Removed teen worms from areas they are not well suited
    • Tweaked some map parts to make spore spawners less annoying (ledges will generally not share a wall with a spore spawner)
  • Underground Base
    • Some enemies have move hitpoints
    • Some enemies do more damage
    • Midboss should no longer blink into existence
  • Strands
    • Some enemies have move hitpoints
    • Some enemies do more damage
    • Fixed an issue that caused ledges to overlap (and be displayed as broken tiles)
    • Fixed an issue that caused trees to overlap (and be displayed as broken tiles)
    • Boss
      • Fixed an issue that allowed boss to damage players after being defeated
  • Graveyard
    • Some enemies have move hitpoints
    • Some enemies do more damage

    • Disabled screenshots at large screen resolutions in Chrome
    • Removed damage rounding for armor mitigation (removed the additional 1 damage value on hits)
    • Made many boss and midboss encounters more CPU friendly (potentially only an issue with many players in an encounter)

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • Emotes
    • Added emotes mapped to keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0
    • Emotes by characters off-screen will be seen by other players
  • General
    • Fixed issue with window resizing when exiting full screen mode
    • Play music via HTML5 Audio to make it stream
    • Certain high frequency monster effects have been added to the client (this frees up bandwidth when those effects are generated and can prevent server crashes)
    • Increase damage bonus on Bellite implants
    • Add more tips
  • Wildfire
    • Bolt Thrower base damage has been reduced
    • Bolt Thrower modifier damage has been increased
    • Fix bug with explosive modifier dealing constant damage
  • Ironclad
    • New shield charge special has been added
      • Initiated with double-tapping forward or backward
        • Ironclad will accelerate in the direction of the double tap for a period of time
        • Once the Ironclad has reached a certain speed, its shield will be raised allowing it to block bullets while charging
        • If an Ironclad touches an enemy with its shield raised, it will do damage, and bounce off the target, maintaining a defensive posture
        • If an Ironclad jumps, its jump will be imparted with increased horizontal speed
      • New modifiers added to shields that modify the effectiveness of the shield charge

      • Slightly increased invulnerability time when entering the map
      • Adjusted spawn position to reduce tendency of players missing the initial landing platform

    • Sniper and Rocketeer agro radius has been increased

      • Midboss will now telegraph when it spawns mini seekers

  • Native gamepad support
    • Some game pads should work without use of a 3rd party driver
      • Tested with Xbox and PS3 controllers

    • Performed a color pass on many shell attacks to prevent them from looking like enemy attacks
    • Attempt to address issue with sound cutting out after a certain amount of play time
    • Screenshots can be taken with the 'z' key

    • Quickstep added
    • Gavotte added
    • Dancer seed is no longer stopped by enemies, only by walls
  • Ironclad
    • Bullet blocking now occurs client side (this will make Ironclad blocking feel much better and prevent situations where you see the Ironclad blocking, but the bullet passes through the shield and you take the hit)
    • Reinforced Mantlet now drops with knockback resistance modifiers
    • Burners now drop
    • Fixed facing and smoke trail placements for rockets
    • Renamed Adjudicator particles to Plinks

      • Getting eaten by the mouth is an instant kill, but getting clipped by the head is not
      • Flame snakes are more aggressive in the boss room than elsewhere

    • Lizard engineers now spawn
    • Fixed an issue with the grenades sometimes creating pulses after being blocked
    • Fixed a crash bug when lizard are not assigned to a group
