Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • General
    • Portals opened by New Sparks will generate a correct server-wide announcement
    • Proxies can no longer litter Eschaton Station
  • Eschaton Station
    • Unopened portals will refresh after 5 minutes
  • Underground Base
    • Boss now has a telegraph before he retreats

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • New Loot Mechanics
    • All loot, including chests, is now dropped without regard to damage done or shell proximity.
    • Chests will remain in the world for 120 seconds, other loot timers remain unchanged
      • Once a chest is opened the spawned loot does not have a timer
    • Add loot flashing to all loot before it disappears
    • Item tiering has been removed
      • Each zone will only drop one type of equipment for a particular slot of each shell. For example, the Underground Base will only drop Arblasts for Wildfires and will not also drop Kantikoy Repeaters.
  • General
    • Opening a non-Fire Forest portal is announced to all players
    • Portals stay open a little longer
    • Reduced prices of items and adjusted the rarity that is available in the Eschaton shop
    • Hitpoint indicators will only be drawn for a particular shell when their respective hitpoints are less than maximum
    • Ally names should not be obscured by other game objects (like loot)
    • Fix music looping issues
    • Fix certain draw issues in Firefox
    • Fix an issue that sometimes caused the server to crash
  • Fabricator
    • Antiphons should no longer attack Flame throwers in the Underground Base
  • Wildfire
    • Adjusted Jerkin and Brigandine damage modifiers (chance and maximum number of modifiers increased)
  • Ironclad
    • Adjusted Plating and Ablative Plating damage modifiers (chance and maximum number of modifiers increased)
  • Forest
    • Reduced the difficulty of the "Normal" version slightly
    • Introduced a new "Elite" variant of the Fire Forest that is more difficult than the previous "Normal" version that offers enhanced loot
      • The "Elite" variant is only accessible once the "Normal" version has been successfully completed
      • More "Elite" variants for other areas are coming soon
  • Cave:
    • Boss
      • Fixed an issue that could cause players to ride the boss to the top of the room
      • Fixed an issue that prevented a the boss from decoupling from the map once the encounter had progressed past a certain point
  • Underground Base:
    • Flame throwers no longer deal contact damage (although the flame itself will still damage the player)
  • Strands
    • Added a branch end enemy that only appears at branch ends
    • Additional map parts have been added
    • Gnats are a bit more aggressive
  • Graveyard
    • Additional map parts have been added

We are in the process of adding new loot for all shells. If your favorite shell didn't get any new loot, they should get some soon. Stay tuned!

  • General
    • Added tips to the loading screens
    • Add an item pickup animation
    • Unregistered players have been given a "New Spark" name that is visible to others
    • Shell dispensers now show tooltips even when players are in shell form
    • Some doors now have an interact animation
    • Finalized music for all areas
    • Cross-fade music when switching areas
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused delayed loading of sprite sheets

    • Fixed an issue that caused drip slimes to attack from a place they are not currently positioned

      • Attacks have been randomized
      • New attack added
      • Tank will not perform some attacks when it doesn't have the ceiling clearance
  • Strands
    • Boss
      • Fix z-order and segment positions
      • Fixed an issue with the Strands deed not dropping
    • Turtle
      • Increase hitpoints
      • Fix issue with death sound not playing
    • Hoppers
      • Fix jumping SFX for hoppers
      • Removed loot from hopper infinite spawns
    • Gnats
      • Increase HP
      • Modify movement behavior
    • Fix issue that caused spider SFX to loop continuously
  • Graveyard
    • Fix an issue with the grenade pulse art not properly indicating the size of its damage area

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • Critical Hit
    • All shells have been given a small base chance to critical hit
      • Duskwing's base critical hit chance has been increased
    • Critical hit multipliers have been increased for some shells
    • Primary weapon damage has been decreased for some weapons
  • Keyboard remapping
    • New UI elements can be accessed from the options menu (via [ESC]) to remap keys
  • New Options in game menu ([Esc])
    • Controls: Remap key bindings
    • Graphics: Modify graphics quality, remove equipment HUD
    • Sound: Modify music and sfx volume
  • General
    • Toaster removed for the moment (he will return)
    • Item prices have been increased
    • A homing animation has been added for all shells
    • Sparks have been given a 2 second home timer to prevent accidental homing
    • Portal lifetimes reduced to 10 seconds once at least 5 players have entered a given portal
    • Player names while as a Spark show up off-screen, but are colored grey instead of white
    • Fix issue that caused players to run while trying to access their stash
    • Players will be kicked if idle for 20 minutes (after warnings are given)
    • Chat messages last slightly longer
    • Reset air jumps while landing during action
    • Re-entering maps will always lead to the same map
  • Eschaton
    • Enable jumping on some certain objects within Eschaton Station
    • Resize merchant canisters to accommodate larger item icons
  • Cave:
    • Boss
      • Cave boss mechanics changed slightly (don't fall in the mouth)
      • Reconfigure room layout slightly
  • Underground Base:
    • Added additional map parts to later areas of the base
    • Boss
      • Getting hit by the boss body should feel more fair
      • Increased hit damage slightly
  • Strands
    • Fixed issue with slinky's not playing sounds in the proper world location (made it hard to hear most of the time)
    • Pincers
      • Fixed issue that caused pincers to heal players
      • Getting hit by the pincers should feel more fair
    • Boss
      • Add spawn animations to boss segments
      • Getting hit by the boss body should feel more fair
  • Ship Graveyard:
    • Melee lizards have different melee attack damage for their different types of melee attacks

  • New Zone: Strands!
    • Keys for the Strands can be obtained from defeating the Fungal Cave boss
  • General
    • Armor effectiveness reduced
    • Many armor values on items have been increased
    • Boosters, Volatile Boosters, Ablative Plating, Wyhyrst, and Intricate Woven all drop
    • Increase effectiveness of Armites implants
    • Fix issue that caused some sounds to play twice
    • More SFX and various updates to SFX
    • Fixed an issue that caused all keys to be consumed on use
  • Tutorial
    • Fixed an issue that prevented the Ancient's portrait from being shown
  • Eschaton:
    • Added a static Strands portal
    • Other Strands portals will spawn randomly
  • Forest
    • Spike damage increased significantly
  • Cave:
    • Prevent the teen worm from attacking before players get into range
  • Underground Base:
    • Updated boss music
    • Fixed an issue that caused doors to move the positions of some turrets
    • Fixed an issue that caused the midboss split sound to be played at improper times
    • Flame turrets are now more aggressive
  • Ship Graveyard:
    • Ship Graveyard difficulty increased significantly
    • Fixed an issue that caused some lizards to jump continuously
    • Melee lizards are now ejected from the loader when the loader is destroyed
    • Fixed an issue that prevented the forcefield around the boss door from being completely removed
    • Boss
      • Boss will now drop its chest in a consistent spot near the portal to Eschaton Station
      • The Boss room has been reconfigured
      • Destroy animations have been added to Boss Turrets
      • Access panels have been repositioned
      • General Boss mechanic has been changed
      • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the boss to not die properly

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • New Zone: Tutorial!
    • Each player will be required to play through the tutorial the first time they log back in
    • Please provide us feedback about any aspects you think need improvement from usability to clarity of story elements
  • New Feature: Item Stash!
    • The stash is located in the home
  • New Feature: Keys!
    • A key is consumed by the opener of the portal
    • Bosses will drop multiple keys on defeat
    • Deeds are now account based and are not lost on death
  • New Feature: Character unlocking!
    • Characters must be unlocked through play
    • Defeating bosses will unlock various shells
  • General
    • Account password reset enabled
    • Add a basic control screen accessible from the game menu (Esc)
    • Fixed an issue with chat defocusing while accessing the inventory screen
    • Capture mode has been removed
    • Add basic hotkeys in the UI for certain item slots
    • Certain tooltips will now change when an interacted with object changes
    • Money drops more often and in more denominations
  • Ironclad
    • Inventory slots reduced slightly (this may cause certain Ironclads to lose items if their inventory was full pre-patch)
  • Eschaton:
    • Added more portals
    • Lowered static fire forest portal
  • Cave:
    • Boss
      • Fixed a bug that prevented scales from having the proper armor value
      • Fixed a bug that caused the claws to desync from the mouth
      • Fixed a bug that occasionally caused claws to spawn darters into the walls
      • Fixed a bug that prevented claws from playing their death animation when the boss is defeated
  • Underground Base:
    • Fixed an issue that caused flame turrets to do damage while in their telegraph

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

  • Sound
    • Fixed sound effects not playing on most remaining objects
    • Fixed an issue where some sounds were playing on top of each other when only one should have been played
    • Updated Music in Cave Boss, Base Boss, Graveyard, Graveyard Boss
  • General
    • Changed permanent HP upgrades to a flat value
    • Adjusted what level HP and Ammo boosts are dropped by which boss (net effect is each boss has its own HP and Ammo boost now)
    • Deeds completed now appears next to the players name for others and in their inventory for themselves
  • Duskwing:
    • Abiding Warp added
  • Ironclad
    • Reduce starting HP slightly
  • Toaster
    • Should be able to equip implant slots
    • Add inventory slots
  • Fabricator:
    • Crits calculated correctly and Dancer damage no longer synchronized
  • Forest:
    • Hive now has telegraph
  • Cave:
    • Spawned slime babies should not spin in place
    • Spinning worm is now invulnerable (rather than unhittable) during spin
    • Boss
      • Change boss room geometry to make it harder to hide from the encounter after engaging the boss
  • Underground Base:
    • Drones will retarget a new player (if one is around) if it has been stuck against a wall for a period of time
    • Flame turrets in the underground base are now invulnerable and adjusted their configurations accordingly
    • Slightly increased hp drop rates in the Base to compensate
    • Change connector order and add new connectors
  • Graveyard:
    • Boss
      • Changed Boss weakspots so that both enemies and players are prevented from being able to shoot through them while they are alive

Good afternoon testers. Here are today's patch notes:

There are a lot of new music and sound effects assets that have gone in this week. Please provide us feedback regarding which ones you like and which ones you think need more work. We are aware of a volume issue with the sound effects, so you may want to listen to sound effects with the music muted. We will try to address the volume issue shortly.

  • General
    • New/Updated music for forest, cave boss, base, base boss, graveyard, graveyard boss
    • Draft sound effects for most objects
    • Chests spew loot over time
    • Pasting text now works
    • Implant slots and items can now drop (mostly from bosses)
      • Implants and implant slots are universal items (usable by any shell) that confer various bonuses, like max hp boosts, max damage boosts, increased air jumps, etc.
    • Title screen logo animated
    • Camera speed has been increased (Quality-of-life fix for Toaster's teleport)
  • New enemy armor mechanic:
    • Some enemies now have armor: non-critical hits from non-armor piercing weapons will do reduced damage
    • Armor piercing modifiers can reduce some or all of the armor for a given enemy
    • Armor damage is shown in a different color
    • "Pierce" is now called "Penetrating"
  • Duskwing:
    • Don't cancel Boomerang throw if land before emit
    • Add critical chance and critical multiplier modifiers
    • Buzzsaw mechanics changed
  • Wildfire
    • Add armor pierce modifiers
  • Ironclad
    • Add armor pierce modifiers
  • Fabricator
    • Add critical chance modifiers
  • Forest:
    • Forest boss has armor
  • Cave:
    • King Native, Boss Claws and Boss are armored
    • Boss
      • Boss scales are heavily armored in their undamaged state
      • Boss scales have reduced armor (but are still armored) in their damaged state
  • Underground Base:
    • Mortar Tower, Heavy, Tank, and Deployed Shield have armor
    • Boss has armor in unrevealed state
  • Graveyard:
    • Fixed a geometry bug that could cause cover scavengers to get stuck
    • Lizards will act more squad-like
    • Loader and boss turrets have armor
    • Crane HP substantially reduced
    • Seeker canisters are now triggered based on player proximity and not through interactions
    • Fixed a potential crash bug with Mini-Seekers interacting with Lizards
    • Lizard groups have fewer enemies that will take cover
    • Fixed a jump that is impossible for Ironclad without aid of a macron
    • Midboss
      • Midboss clones will not drop health/ammo/ec
      • Emitter and spawned mini-seekers will now drop health/ammo/ec
      • Slightly increased the drop rate of health/ammo/ec from emitters and spawned min-seekers
    • Boss
      • Boss weakspots must be forced open by interacting with a nearby panel
      • Added a boss death animation
      • Removed ledge on the top of the boss
      • Boss now has a maximum number of ship spawns and a maximum number of total spawns

Good afternoon Testers,

We're almost done with back-end production upgrades which means more visible changes will be coming over the next few weeks. Also, the dev team will be at GDC next week, so the next major release will be March 13th. We will of course try to address any game-breaking issues that might arise between now and then.

Here are today's patch notes:

  • Duskwing
    • Added Gnawing Aesc
  • Toaster
    • Teleport bug fix
  • Eschaton Station
    • Placed spacer ledges between shop merchant item containers and between the merchant item containers and the targeting dummy
  • Ship Graveyard
    • Melee Lizard tail attack should not miss repeatedly
    • MidBoss
      • Removed objects in the room that should not have been drawn
      • The panel to lower the shield is not operative until the MidBoss has been defeated
    • Boss
      • Removed timer on turret bullets
  • Underground Base
    • Fixed a bug that could cause switches from becoming inoperative, even if they have not been used
    • Fixed a bug that could cause teleports to teleport you to the wrong pad
  • Music
    • Tracks for Title Scree, Eschaton Station, Home, and Cave finalized
    • Tracks for Forest and Forest Boss have been revised
  • Other minor bug fixes and art updates

Good afternoon Testers,

We're almost done with back-end production upgrades which means more visible changes will be coming over the next few weeks. We are also slowly replacing placeholder music and SFX. Please let us know what you think.

Here are today's patch notes:

  • Fungus Cave
    • Boss
      • Added another "speed attack" phase
      • Final attack before death is a speed attack instead of a slow attack
  • Underground Base
    • Midboss
      • Fixed a bug that could cause a second boss to spawn in very rare circumstances
      • Will not break apart until a minimum time has elapsed, even if sufficient damage has been done
  • Sound muting should now work again
  • Other minor bug fixes and art updates
